1940's-50's USA travel scrapbook many postcards photos menus brochures ephemeraThis is a fascinating collection of travel memorabilia put together by a wife/mother in the 1940's-50's. There are sets of new postcards, airline tickets, menus, brochures, booklets, pamphlets, personal photos and some wrtten text. The locations are all within the USA... California, Chicago, Florida, the Southwest, and more. Oh, and Tijuana. I took photos of many, but not all, of the pages. There are a total of 35 pages... Check out the many sets of unused postcards and souvenir photos from places like Rock City Gardens, Saint Louis Missouri, Washington DC, Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian, and more. There's a handwritten note on a napkin from The Barclay New York. There's a playbill for the Hudson Theatre. There are airline tickets and iteneraries. There's the "first photo ever taken" by the young Master (boy) of the family. Everything was stuck (literally, with tape and glue) into a "religious Christmas cards" album; I suppose that's just what she had available to use for the purpose. I spent well over an hour just looking through this while photographing it! It's a great collection and kind of hard to put a price on and sell.
Thanks for looking, and have fun bidding!
Notes on shipping:
I urge you to click on the "Shipping and Payments" tab above to view your shipping options. The default option is not always the cheapest. You also have the option of choosing your shipping method when paying for the item, and again I urge you to take a look at your options; you could save a few bucks.
On average, I LOSE MONEY ON SHIPPING. I feel the need to express this because I am getting many comments like "Come on, you gotta be able to ship it cheaper than that!" No, I can't, unless there are unusual circumstances. The fact that ebay/paypal takes 16% of what you pay me for shipping does not help that equation.
I prefer to ship USPS. I can ship UPS, but it is not my preference, so if you want that service please request it and I will send an invoice showing the correct shipping amount. I can't ship FedEx. I live in a rural area that Fed Ex does not service. For international shipments, I will only use USPS. The hoops UPS makes me jump through as an international shipper are just too complicated and time consuming.
I use almost exclusively recycled packaging to keep your shipping/handling costs down. I pack thoroughly, and I don't have many damaged shipments. It does happen occasionally, though, and in those cases I will make it right.
If you (the buyer) want insurance or alternate shipping, we can work it out prior to payment. I will ship within 3 business days after receiving payment. International credit card payments are subject to PayPal regulations.
I am conscientious about shipping to my buyers in the most efficient and inexpensive way, and often give a partial refund on shipping cost if it turns out to be significantly less than what was quoted.
