    Description

    1981 Porsche 911SC
    w/ 3.2 H6 Engine
Sudden change in situation forces reluctant sale of well loved 1981 PORSCHE 911SC TARGA. There is no doubt the Porsche 911 is the most iconic model Porsche has and ever will make. The 911SC Targa features some of the best improvements in modernity and comfort compared with earlier cars. The abundance and extremes of the 1980s are well exemplified by the Porsches of this era, it is hard to imagine the extravagant 80s without a few of these 911s in mind.
This particular 1981 Porsche 911 SC TARGA is amazingly rust-free. In the late 70s Porsche started treating the metal of their cars making them much more resilient to rust. There are no signs of any corrosion anywhere on the body both under and over. It is one of the best examples I have seen in person. No signs of any major accidents noticed either.  The paint is very shiny but does have a few chips and scratches and imperfections. Looks perfect... from 10 feet away. The car was repainted a few years ago.
The engine is a 3.2 Liter Flat 6 (horizontally opposed) air-cooled naturally aspirated motor originally producing 207hp from a Carrera. The vehicle only weighing a little over 2500 pounds it feels very quick. The engine starts on the first try every time and has a perfect idle. Lots of torque. Features a much improved electronic fuel injection (EFI). Much improved of the previous generation 3.0 CIS. The engine does have the typical Porsche minor oil leaks, a little through the case seam (usual for this car). That is to say it is perfectly drive-able as is. Some oil will evaporate off the manifold if the car has been sitting for a while, goes away after a few minutes. Coupled with a 5-Speed 915 gearbox and a short shift kit installed. Gears pass through as expected of the 915. Newer stainless steel Mille Miglia exhaust from Australia. Recent oil change and MAHLE filter performed.
The interior is in fair condition. The seats both have a rip in the seams of the bottoms. They are the originals however. Can be fixed or replaced with easily available kits found on eBay these days. Door panels are solid, door pockets have some loose vinyl. All perfectly usable. Dash has cracks, currently recovered by both a molded dash saver and a fabric protector. Features a MOMO Prototipo Steering wheel. The face-plate for the radio has been misplaced.
The wheels are from a 1995 Porsche 911/993 and suit the car very well. Tires are good in the front, rears have about 30% life left. Bridgestone POTENZA tires.
With Porsche 911 Prices rising everyday, now is the time to get this one, I would keep it but a sudden change in situation forces me to part with it. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. All the best, good luck on your bids! Clean title in hand, ready to go.
Payment is expected with 5 days of the Auction's end. With an immediate deposit of 00. Serious bids only please. I can assist with shipping if needed. Buyer pays shipping. Typical costs to California/west coast is 0-1200. Shipping to Europe from location is around 00-4000.
