Merit Partners is pleased to present this outstanding 911 resto-mod we just got in from a very good local client.  For those not familiar with the resto-mod terminology, a resto-mod is a classic car that has been restored, but modified with modern parts and technology.  This car fits that definition perfectly and the original description of the car from the previous owner who built the car and sold it on BAT over a year ago is largely detailed below.  For someone looking for a 993 Turbo with extra punch, more pleasing aesthetics, better suspension, better technology and better sound system, you won’t do much better than this car as the fit and finish are first class and super clean.
This 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo was acquired by the seller in 2018 from a customer who used it for driver’s education and time trial events, and was subsequently modified as a GT2-style street car. The work included removal of the stock sunroof and installation of a GT2 front bumper cover, splitter, fender flares, and rear wing followed by a repaint in Arctic Silver Metallic. The interior was reinstalled with Sparco seats, RS-style trim, and more. Power is from a twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six which received a top-end rebuild and is paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Additional modifications consist of a rear-wheel drive conversion, limited-slip differential, 18″ Forgeline wheels, Bilstein PSS9 coilovers, an ECU tune, and more.
New sheet metal was TIG-welded in place of the factory sunroof, and the doors were removed for a two-stage repaint in Arctic Silver Metallic. A color-matched GT2 front bumper cover and splitter were fitted along with a deck lid and bolt-on fender flares from Getty Design. A replacement US-spec rear bumper cover was also installed.
Forgeline wheels feature polished lips with grey powder-coated centers and measure 18″x10″ wide in the front and 18″x12″ in the rear. Toyo R888R tires are sized 275/40 and 315/35. Bilstein PSS9 coilovers have been added along with Rennline steel monoball pivots and rear alignment arms, Tarrett front camber plates, adjustable sway bars from The Racers Group, and a titanium front strut brace. The standard four-piston brake calipers were refinished in red and new front rotors were added.
The interior was reassembled with a black leather dash, knee pad, and door trim as well as RS-style door panels with red pulls and grey RSA-style carpeting. Sparco EVO 2 seats with houndstooth center sections were fitted up front, while the rear seats were replaced with carpets.
Additional features consist of an aftermarket metal shift knob and pedal set, a Sabelt steering wheel, and a Becker CDR-210 stereo. Aluminum-look VDO instrumentation was optioned new and includes a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a six-digit mechanical odometer showing just over 85k miles.
The twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six received a top-end rebuild at Black Forest Automotive in San Diego, California including resurfaced cylinder heads with ported intakes as well as new valve guides, springs, and retainers. The cylinders were honed and new piston rings fitted along with camshafts from a naturally-aspirated 911. Additional modifications include a Protomotive ECU 91 remap, an AEM boost controller, altered mufflers, Turbokraft oil line check valves, and an aftermarket intake filter. Shifting is through a six-speed manual gearbox rebuilt by GBox in Erie, Colorado, and a rebuilt limited-slip differential has also been added. The car has been converted from all- to rear-wheel drive via removal of its driveline torque tube, front differential, and front axles.
In addition to the description above, our local client went a little further and added new Michelin tires, upgraded Focal stereo, ceramic coating, momo wheel, Rennline pedals and fire extinguisher.
