(2) Cretaceous Age Mammal Fossils
This collection of two Cretaceous Age mammal fossils consists of o
ne small jaw section with three teeth intact and one worn separate molar from the mammal, Meniscoessus.  Meniscoessus lived toward the end of the "Age of The Dinosaurs", and were members of the extinct order multituberculata.  Multituberculates are the only major branch of mammals to have become completely extinct and have no living descendants.
The mammal jaw was found in two pieces.  The pieces were reattached and the fossil was then stabilized.  The jaw has many hair line cracks that were also stabilized.  The loose molar was found in one piece needing no restoration.  The molar has quite a bit of feeding wear and is missing a piece.  Both of the mammal fossils have nice detail and preservation with a dark brown to black coloration.  All around a couple of nice mammal fossils.
The Largest Mammal Fossil (jaw section) measures:  3/4" of an inch wide by 1 1/4" inches in length.
The Smallest Mammal Fossil (tooth) measures:  3/16" of an inch wide by 5/16" of an inch in length.
These two mammal fossils were dug out of a microsite in the Hell Creek Formation of Powder River County, Montana.  The two fossils were collected on private ranch land with the owner's permission.
