The importance of microfiber accessories
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the accessories we use are equally as important as the products we use and the technique. You always want to be as gentle as possible when working with your paint to keep it looking its best and with maximum shine. Microfiber is always going to be the material of choice when washing, drying and removing compounds, polishes, waxes and detailers. Microfiber creates less friction than terry cloth, is very gentle, and helps to absorb dust and debris further minimizing the risk of creating swirls.
Meguiar’s Microfiber Wash Mitt is a premium wash mitt that is extremely absorbent and soft, and both lifts and traps dirt and grime to minimize scratching and swirling. It also carries more suds, for faster, safer washing and a scratch-free show car finish. It can be used with traditional car wash soap or dry with Meguiar’s Quik Detailer Mist and Wipe. This comfortable 8” x 10” hand wash mitt is also durable, reusable and machine washable.
Two bucket method
In addition to Meguiar’s Microfiber Wash Mitt, we recommend using the 'Two Bucket' method in conjunction with Meguiar's Grit Guard to further reduce the chances of inflicting swirls and scratches into the paint. The two bucket method makes use of one bucket for the wash solution and a second bucket with just plain water to use as a rinse for the wash mitt.
1. Use the soapy water bucket to pick up wash solution with the wash mitt and wash a section of the vehicle.
2. Dunk the wash mitt into the rinse bucket to remove any loose contaminants it may have picked up.
3. Rub your wash mitt across the Grit Guard and it will further collect debris to thoroughly clean the wash mitt.
4. Dunk the mitt back into the soapy water bucket and pick up fresh, uncontaminated wash solution and work on the next section. Consider putting an additional Grit Guard into the soapy water bucket as an added safety precaution.

Meguiar’s Grit Guard sits at the bottom of most 3.5 – 5 gallon buckets and helps collect contaminants from your wash mitt. You rub the mitt on the grit guard and it helps to take contaminants off your mitt minimizing the chance of inflicting swirls and scratches.
Selecting a car wash
Dish washing detergents are degreasers that begin to strip away wax and polish and promote oxidation. For this reason, you should always select a premium pH balanced, non-detergent car wash soap like Gold Class Car Wash and use at the recommended dilution. This will gently clean, boost gloss and preserve wax protection.
