Description

ONLY FITS 78 and 79 XS11 models with a kickstart shaft
Does not fit 80-81 without a kickstart shaft.
NOTE:
This is the economy version of our XS1100 kicker lever.
It is lighter than our heavy duty unit, and
has less clearance from the brake arm at full swing
.
Some models may have interference
with full kick swing, at the brake arm
.
Do not buy this if you are unwilling to make any modifications,
as it is

that there will be some clearance issues with the brake arm.
This is the economy version of my

this is for 19mm Yamaha splined kickstart shaft,
may fit other models!

I installed some clear hose on the lever in some of the pics for a cool look,
and to keep the lever from touching the oil filler cap.

An XS enthusiast submitted:
NOTE: Some European/Australian '78 Standard models had higher,
more rear set foot pegs that sit  just behind the kickstart spline.
As such, the kickstart lever pivot mechanism
hits the footpeg very early into its rotation.
I own such a 78 model, and quite a bit of work
is required to get any kicker to work on these.
(note: i was able to get my other Heavy Duty kicker to work on US '78 models)

that is the biggest problem i have seen,  along with people trying to put it on a 80-81 model, with no kick start shaft!
Q: so I shouldn't buy your kick start pedal for my 79 xs1100 if I plan on actually ever using it?
A:
some people have trouble with the clearance of the lever and brake arm at full swing,
so you can either not kick it all the way past the brake arm or make appropriate changes-
but if you don't mind making slight modifications (if your model is one that is affected, some models are not...),
then you can make any necessary modifications, and you will be satisfied.
Some people don't even own a screwdriver, let alone a tool kit, or have never even changed a spark plug, so i have to make that disclaimer.
Some people can't kick-start a 125cc bike either :-) - (let alone an XS11.)
If you are able to use the non-folding kickstarter that came with the bike,
-you should be able to do it.
i have sold over 60 units, -26 kickers this year alone, and installed 10 on my bikes and customer bikes,
and have had one person complain that he was not able to kick his bike to life, and one person's bike that had
a damaged the internal spring, so that the kicker would not retract, - so i have to make the disclaimer.
So,  I can't guarantee a "no modification" fitment, or promise that everyone will even be able to kickstart an 1100cc bike, that's all.
I'm just trying to be completely honest and up front regarding an aftermarket part.
Which is how i would want to be treated if i was considering the purchase of a non-stock part.
Most of the time,
in the custom parts world,  ...
it doesn't happen that way,
We are then left with a part that doesn't fit as hoped, and modifications have to be made.
It is my policy to make you aware of what you are looking at
~ and It is always "buyer beware" (be AWARE) when getting custom parts.
But If i know that up front, i get a lot less frustrated :-)
- i am doing my best to keep my customer AWARE of what he is getting into.
My motto is, "If i want it bad enough, i'm gonna MAKE IT WORK!"
you may have heard the term "UNIVERSAL FIT" ?
We laugh when we see that, knowing that what it really means is: "FITS NOTHING SPECIFICALLY IN THE UNIVERSE" or fits nothing universally.... lol
