Here is a beautiful genuine piece of fossil bone, from the Jurassic, about 150 million years old, the middle age of the Dinosaurs. From the Morrison Formation in Eastern Utah.  The piece is connected to the vertebrae.
It measures about 3.0" (varies), and weighs 10.45 oz.
Dinosaur bones are usually found in extremely hard matrix rock, and must be excavated in pieces, then reattached at the site or in the lab.  This is not considered a defect with dinosaur bones, but rather standard procedure. Such appears to be the case here.
It is impossible to tell what kind of sauropod it is without a lot of other bones nearby from the same animal. We have a number of pieces, but we haven't met anyone who can identify them more specifically than "sauropod".  They are the largest dinosaurs to have lived in present-day Utah, with long necks and long tails, a small head and a large body upheld by 4 pillar-like legs.
Camarasaurus is by far the most common sauropod to be found in eastern Utah. So this is quite possibly from a Camarasaurus, simply because of the number of them found here. Utah was also home to the following sauropods: Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, and Barosaurus. All were giants, the Camarasaurus was actually one of the smaller ones at 50 feet and 25 tons.
We are happy to enclose a COA (Certificate of Authenticity).  Some words of caution about COA’s: Do not let them become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very nice-looking COA’s, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen. In addition, the person selling the item is often the one who writes the COA (potential conflict of interest). Finally, a COA, without a photo of the exact item on the COA itself,  is worthless, as it can later be placed next to any other fossil or mineral.  We suggest that instead of relying on a COA, that people read and study the subject.
