soft plush with a hard plastic top (has a few scratches) with stars and a creasant moon in the middle with yellow, green and blue lights.
On the top there is a large push button for on/off
Underneath (bottom) there is a flap with velcro that hides the battery conpartment (3 AAA included) and the master on/off slide sitch
Cute little penguin is in used condition but still functions well

Also keep in mind that color monitors can be different depending on settings. I usually use a flash.
