VINTAGE BAKELITE BELT BUCKLE
Interesting and unusual vintage Art Deco era molded Bakelite plastic belt buckle set measuring 2-3/4" when connected and 1-1/4" deep. Buckle pieces are beveled and ground smooth with an inlaid yellow stripe up the middle - reminds me of a bumble bee. Back is complete with a metal bracket and hook closure, as well as metal 1/2" wide brackets through which a cloth belt would thread.
Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, hairlines, discoloration or damage other than a hint of a few fine rubs from wear - these have been tested as Bakelite with Semichrome. Always planned on making the buckle into a large bumble bee pin - just never got around to it. Nice addition to any collection or display!
